What happens in a Hypnotherapy Session?

Are Hypnotherapists Accredited?

This month in Hypnotherapist Sydney...

Why see a Hypnotherapist instead of a Counsellor?

The answer to this question lies in the heart of the difference between hypnotherapy and counselling. These are not the same thing at all. Counselling is at best talk therapy, if it is therapy at all. In fact, most counselling works only in the analytical mind and looks only at the reasons for your problems and then you might do some problem solving and that's about it. Your counsellor will be empathic as he or she reflects back what you have said and makes you feel accepted. Now, this is great, but it is definitely not enough to help you let go of anxiety, resolve emotional blocks, change habits, think more positively and so forth.

Hypnotherapy, on the other hand, works in the unconscious mind and takes into account the power of its depth. The need to survive in this world is so great that the unconscious mind holds all of these learnings that can occur during times when life was not great. However, while they may have been useful and adaptive means to survive in the past, they can often become a nuisance in your present life. In fact, you can become quite cross with yourself, as you notice some of the things you do that cause frustration. This might be the way you relate to people, or anxious reactions you might have for no logical reason. Such redundant learnings can be endless.

Because hypnotherapy is a deep therapy, is can release you from the unresolved emotions, anxieties and patterns of relating to people you have learned from your past and set you free to be more in control of what you do and how you react and relate to others.
